Great Weekend!

I have to say, last weekend was probably one of the greatest weekends for House Music lovin IMO. Of course I am biased because I DJed two of the bigger events in the cities. I guess what I mean though is that being a part of these two events (even if I opened both of them) help build stronger my bond with House Music.
House music for the WIN this weekend for sure.
Friday Night “House Proud V.3″ at Honey:
Below is most of my opening set at Honey Lounge in Minneapolis, MN. Live recording with instrumentals by Chuck Love (honored!). There were 2 people on the dance floor at 10pm. buy 11:30 I would say close to 200 people were in this small club and groovin’ to the music. Both Brownie and Bryan Gerrard (Celebrity Records) played and god only knows how packed it got (I had to bolt a little early to survive).
Saturday Night HotDish “Throwback III – GLow Party” at First Avenue:
Saturday night was the long running HotDish party at First Avenue Nightclub in Minneapolis, MN. Holy crap was that a party too! I was a little nervous, cause this is the show that me and Nate Laurence are responsible, and after Friday night, I was a little worried that people wouldn’t come out because they were recouping from the House Proud show.
Boy was I wrong. This was an insanely fun party as you can tell from the picture below. It was indeed one of the best nights ever for HotDish. All the great costumes and outfits. One girl was glowing so bright from the black lights, she was burning my retinas (Ehem, Holly).
Natas, the second DJ that played that night threw down some classic tracks that I totally forgot about that still control the dance floor. Our closer and one of the best known DJs in Minneapolis and surrounding, E Tones, was an absolute GEM on the decks. When he comes through, just expect your body to be controlled for his entire set. Both were such a pleasure to have in and HotDish cant thank them enough.
One huge element that was missing though was Nate Laurence. Unfortunately he couldnt make it to this show. I felt really bad about him missing this. Plus he was so instrumental in making this happen too.
Maybe later I will update this post with my mix from that show (it was recorded live also). But for now, if you stare at the pic long enough, you will get an idea of how dope that was. To all that came out and partied, huge thank you. The vibe in there was incredible.

Very elated about the party in Fargo on Friday. It was nuts. I had a blast with all the people up there and the club was fantastic. To all the Fargo party people out there, THANK YOU!
Special thanks and props to DJ Econ and his crew, the staff at the Aquarium, and of course all the great artist that got the party started!

1 year HotDish Anniversary…

What a fricken party! The HotDish 1 year was Sept 4th, and if you missed it, shame on you! It was a blast.
Great Minneapolis house music, hanging out with great friends and two dope DJs was great. On top of just the show, Nate Laurence and I like to hang with our guest.
We properly re-introduced Lee Jarvis (London, UK, Chicago, IL) to Minneapolis. Which actually, he needed no re-introduction at all. Last time he was here, we all partied hard and hung with him. But having him back was great. Especially because this time we were able to do more with him.
Jonn Hawley (Milwaukee, WI) also came to play with us and it also wasn’t his first time in the 612 (was it Jonn?). LOL. This was my first time hanging with him and his wife and we all had an awesome time. Being able to pick Jonn’s brain on house music, production and life was an honor.He will be the next guest for my Funk Yeah! FM show on Chicago House FM Sept 26th. Check it out because I am sure that he is going to kill it like he did in the record room.

All in all, the night itself was amazing. Great people, smiling faces, and of course, great music. To all that came out, THANK YOU! To those that didn’t, shame on you! (again, lol).

Fun Times on Funk Yeah! FM radio show

So the debut of my new radio show, Funk Yeah! FM was a great success. It aired on the very popular Chicago House FM radio show which showcases the best house music.

Last Night was a Party!!

Solera Rooftop Sessions was a great time. I got to play some great deep house music, some funky house music, and drink large quantities of tequila. Very special thanks to Patrick James and Big Momma J!
It was a great time and I have to thank all that came out and partied. I got a little tipsy, thanks to Mike B.
Next up, HotDish 1 Year Anniversary show! Woot!
For those of you not familiar with Solera Rooftop, in the summer time it is one of the best places to catch some of the best Twin Cities house music DJs. Dance music, for those who wonder.

Super excited about this actually. I have been requested by friends Big Momma J and Patrick James to come play music with them this weekend at one of the best spots during the summer in the Twin Cities. Solera’s rooftop!

Funk Yeah! FM

Sept 29th, 2010 I am going to be starting a monthly online radio show that I am super stoked about called Funk Yeah! FM. I have the privilege of being a part of Chicago House FM, created by DJ Camouflage. Check out the news about it here: Funk Yeah! FM.
I’m a little geeked out about it right now and I am still a few weeks away. Its going to be a live broadcast (cross fingers it doesnt crash or I have tech difficulties) and will feature some of the best producers and DJs in the underground house scene. Oh, and also its focused on funky and jackin house music, from Chicago, of course.
Check it out yo! It airs 7 pm cst (12 gmt) Sunday, Sept 29.
